The first time we visited the site in the Jianshe town, there were old factories along the road. The site for the project was the factory of a garment factory, and the old factory buildings became warehouses for building material shops, with a cold, depressed look. These factories were built in the 1960s and 1970s, and are buildings left over from the planned economy, and now look like forgotten products of the development of the times.
As a community cultural centre open to the villagers, we wanted it to be a park open to the neighbourhood, where the old villagers who used to work in the factories could regroup for sports and fitness, cultural activities and recreation as part of their daily lives.
Instead of completely erasing the memory of the past in a new form, the design can be designed in a compatible way so that the information of the times contained in the building can be read again and the building functions and community activities can be reactivated by means of renovation and expansion, thus bringing the rural streets back to life and vitality.
