Rumors means ‘friends’ and, as the name suggests, this was the original intention of Mr Nakayama’s shop, to allow people to meet and talk over a cup of coffee in a ‘tiny’ space, and then naturally become friends.
The design inherits elements and styles of the original shop to a certain extent, and the blend of old and new is in keeping with the atmosphere of the French Concession streets.
When the wooden folding windows are fully opened, the shop and the street are naturally integrated, and it is like being a guest in a ‘friend’s house’ as they sit together and talk to each other.
